The name Moodle is actually an acronym for Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment. It is a free and open source e-learning software platform, also known as a course management system, learning management system (LMS) or virtual learning environment. It is basically designed to help educators create effective online learning sites with opportunities for rich interaction. It is a global development project designed mainly to support a social constructionist frame work of education.
