Mambo was a CMS that was used to create websites and managing their content through simple web interface. Joomla is the fork of Mambo. Fork implies the development of a new project by working on the source code of another (parent ) project to create a distinct piece of software. So, the development of Joomla was made possible by modifying the source code of project Mambo. Joomla came into existence on August 17, 2005 by the Joomla development team.
